YOU NEED TO SERVE CHRIST

Vladimir Mysin • Dec 25, 2020

Let us remember that every day is a gift from God. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

Someday, when you are in heaven, someone will come up to you and thank you for touching their life, and these words will come as a surprise. And then another person will find you, and then one more, and more… And listening to their stories, you will start to discover for yourself all the moments when God used you and you had no idea… You will see that most of the time those things you did were not great deeds, but something very simple – a kind word, a friendly smile, words of support, attention and even dinner made with care. And you will be happy to find out that God used all of these to put His great Love into hearts in need.

Therefore, you can’t just believe in Christ, you need to serve Him. Remember that Christians are followers of Christ and not just churchgoers. In the temple we “recharge our batteries” so that coming out of the church we could serve God by serving people. Any job, any kind of work is an opportunity to serve God. A doctor, a teacher, a driver, a salesperson, a police officer, if all Christians start doing their work, thinking that they do it not for a person, but for the Lord, by this we will be serving Christ. A bus driver is driving a bus, thinking: there’s Christ travelling in my bus… A construction worker is remodeling an apartment, thinking that it will be the home of Christ. A chef and a waiter who think about God at work and a chef and a waiter who don’t - are absolutely different people. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24)

People see your good deeds, but God sees why you do them. Let us look forward with hope, backward with gratitude, upward with faith, and around with love. Your reward in heaven will be great, but the most important thing is you will receive eternal life in the loving presence of our Lord and Savior. “God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life.” (Romans 2:6-7)
