WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?

Vladimir Mysin • Dec 27, 2020

Peace be with you, our dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, our fellow workers and partners in the glory that will soon be revealed in us at the entrance to His glorious and unshakable Kingdom in heaven! We greet all of you with the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Once, talking to a lawyer, Jesus told the parable of the Merciful Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37). Since then this timeless parable has been edifying millions of people. Even today it asks people from the 21st century a question: And who is my neighbor? I would like to draw your attention to three definitions.

The neighbor is the one you want to pass by. Once Christ stopped and healed our soul wounded by sin, when everyone else in this world passed us by.

The neighbor is the one for whom we have no time. The priest forgave sins, made sacrifices, taught the law. The Levite pleased the ears of those praying in the temple with his voice. Both of them had no time.

The neighbor is the one you need to support financially. The Samaritan went beyond touching sympathy, he didn’t confine himself to saying: “Poor man! How brutally they beat you! Don’t worry, if you die, you will be happy in heaven!” Instead he decided to fight for this person’s life. Christ ends this parable with a serious appeal that sounds like an order to all believers: “Go and do likewise!”

On behalf of the Lord, we thank you for your participation, that enables the Mission “Word To Russia” to provide assistance to people in need of salvation in different countries. There are still a lot of those in this world, who cry out in their souls wounded by sin and wickedness, and we together make our modest contribution to the salvation of at least some of them. May our Lord, according to the riches of His grace and mercy, which triumphs over judgment, fulfill all your needs, now and forever. Amen.
